Confirmed... we're crazy

Well, how do you hold a cat so you can trim their nails? How can the vet do it? It think they threaten them! Finally, we wrapped him in a towel, put out one paw and tried to clip. We got one clipped, found that one was actually pulled off. By the time we were trying to clip a third one, he had the other front paw free. We finally decided that it might be worth a trip to the vet instead of us fighting with him. I wish he would sharpen his nails like Callie does, that would keep them trimmed, although she has destroyed a small part of our house since that is what she is using. I’ll have to include pictures!

Hanging by a thread

OK, time for another trip to the vet. Buddy’s nails are just toooooooo long. Twice now, he has gotten himself caught on the couch and was there crying and Callie is hissing and oh my… time for a clipping. Maybe we’ll get some clippers? Am I crazy???

Must be Spring

OK, I think I’m going to start waking the cats up every time I see them sleeping during the day. It appears that night time is the time to run around chasing each other, playing hide and seek, hissing and fighting. Unfortunately, IT’S SUPPOSE TO BE MY TIME TO SLEEP!!! They just don’t see it that way. Now Callie has a new game. She hides from Buddy and he spend 30 minutes searching for her meowing at the top of his voice! He can be a very lonely cat at times. He finds her and then the race part beings which usually includes running OVER me one after the other. Guess that just makes the chase more of an adventure… for them anyway. Though I must say that there is nothing like an adrenaline rush from being wakened from a sound sleep by two cats using you as a race track. Takes your breath away… right!

Gone Quilting

Well, I’ve been gone for a few days and when I got back I felt like I was really missed. Buddy spent a lot of time on my lap and Callie had her time also. I missed them both!! Good to be home, but I’ll be leaving again for Walla Walla in two days.

Something New

OK, I sleep in a recliner (back problems) and now I’ve woken up a few times thinking what is in my face! Then I realize there is a cat sleeping on my chest. I guess sometimes a lap just won’t do, but have you ever gotten a mouthful of very fine cat hair? Not pleasant. We’ll have to work on this one.

Incredible Exploding Cats

So… you’re walking around the house and suddenly you see a small circle, about 8 inches in diameter of cat fur. It’s only a ring of fur, none on the inside of the circle… just a ring of fur. What can this be??? I’m finding them everywhere. It took some detective work, but I finally figured it out. I call them small cat explosions. I guess with the weather getting warmer now, they are starting to shed so as they sit and lick and chew on themselves, the shed small amounts of hair. Of course none falls where they are sitting so, hence… small cat explosions. I think I’m going to explode if they don’t finish shedding! I think they’ve each lost a small cat already!!!

Gone to Mars

OK, so Callie really likes to go outside, she enjoys it. Buddy still enjoys chasing her throughout the house. So today, when I opened the door to let Callie out, Buddy chased her right out the front door. When he realized what he had done he stopped dead in his tracks. I held the door open and told him to come back in, but he looked at me like I had two heads!!! Then he ran and hid under the truck. I kept trying to coax him into the house, and he did his “stretching cat thing” where his back feet stay in one place and he front ones advance. He got close to the front door, then ran back under the truck. So… I gave up on him and closed the door. Then, I went to the back door, opened it and whistled for him (yes, they humor us with some dog attributes just to keep us happy) and here comes this little black and white bullet cat from around the other side of the house! He comes flying into the dining room and looks at me and starts to tell me… “Mom… I was outside and some strangers were trying to make me come in their house… I was scared… but I didn’t go in… then you called me and I came right away… they didn’t get me!!” How do I tell his poor creature that it’s OK to go out that door… it’s the same big world, it’s NOT Mars. He panics if you put him outside from the front door, and he worries about Callie when she goes out that way. If he sees her go out that way, he sits by the door for a long time after she goes!!! How did we ever become cat people???
