WE LIVED!!!!!

I was dreading the moment, but we brought in the cat carrier and I was prepared for a fighting cat. Bruce held the box open, I picked Buddy up and gently lowered him into the box. Not a fight, not a scratch, he just went in calmly! When I try to put Callie in, she knows how to make each leg go in a different direction so I can’t get them all in the box. He did meow just one time but other than that seemed to enjoy the trip. Of course, I was a little worried about taking him out at the vet, but once again, he came out calmly and sat on the table to be poked and prodded. They decided his immunizations would have to wait because he had a little eye infection and they wanted him on antibiotics. Those words struck fear into my heart and pictures into my mind. The “How to Pill a Cat” document came to mind. But… the vet game me a choice. “Would you like to give him 2 tablets a day? It’s very cost effective. Or we can offer you a one time injection but it would cost $30”. Are you kidding???? I didn’t want to tell them I would pay DOUBLE for them to do an injection. I felt like I was stealing!!!!! He got a clean bill of health for all the other cat nasties, so now, we can look forward to another appointment after the new year. At that time they will do his “attitude adjustment” and all his immunizations. For now, Buddy is still an outside cat.

One more note: I was so happy with the way he got in the box without a problem that I called my Vet Tech sister to tell her. She burst my bubble when she said… “Yeah… the first time in the box…” Oh well. Something to look forward to.

V-Day

Yikes… Dec 6 is V-day. Callie is snickering. Buddy is care free and has no idea what is in store for him. Me… I won’t be getting much sleep until this is over!! --sigh--

Home Sweet Home

Looks like Buddy will be coming to live with us. He comes in for short periods of time but we really want to take him to the vet for all the necessary shots before he actually moves in. We need to protect Callie from any dreaded diseases he might have. Buddy did tell me he has his bags packed and could move in anytime we’re ready. This mean it’s time for the dreaded Vet Visit!!! Just saying the words sends chills down my spine. I know what it was like taking Callie to the vet. Wish me luck. I’m off to make an appointment. If I live through it, I’ll be back on line soon to tell you allllllllllll about it.

Let me in... Let me out...

Well, Buddy has started to come in to explore the house. He sits mainly at the window ready to go back out, but is slowly venturing out each day about 5 feet at a time, then immediately back to the window. Callie is NOT pleased.

We're baaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaack!

HE CAME BACK!!! Little Casanova!! I guess there were a few women that needed his attention. Little does he know that if he decides to live with us there will be… an attitude adjustment necessary. (snip snip). But we’ll worry about that after he decides to own us.

Where's Buddy?

Well, Buddy has been “missing” for over 4 days now. Why do we get so attached to these little furballs. Callie doesn’t seem to miss him… I’m wondering if she has anything to do with his disappearance! Anyway, there is always hope.

We've been accepted!

Well, it’s happened! Buddy finally came over and let us touch him. He still wants NOTHING to do with coming in the house. He’s very timid and untrusting, but maybe we can fix that over time. Callie doesn’t seem pleased with him at all. She just like to sit at the back window and make faces at him. I think I’ve even heard her say “neener, neener, neener… I’m inside and you’re not!!” Won’t she be surprised.

The Word is spreading

Well, looks like Callie spread the news that we take in stray cats. There has been a little black and white cat that sleeps on our lounge outside the back window and we’ve started to call him Buddy and it seemed to stick. He also has the same little mark on his nose that Callie does… her son maybe??? He’s been visiting now for the past month but he hasn’t wanted much to do with us. Once again felt sorry for the poor thing and put out a little food & water for him. We’ll have to see if we can “make friends” with him.

We're BACK!!!!

Well, a lot has gone on since I've last written in the log. Callie has us completely trained now. We (or should i say I) get up every morning between 3 and 3:30am to let her out. She starts with a quiet little "meow" and then gives me a minute... or 30 seconds to respond. If I don't, the quiet little "meow" volume increases exponentially until I finally give in. If I try to wait too long, it's not just the volume... she then jumps on my chest and meows at the top of her voice. I think I can actually hear the words "Can you hear me now???" and I can't possibly ignore that! She also makes sure her food dish is always full, whether she is planning on eating right then or not. She will get your attention, then take you into the kitchen where her bowl is and sit in front of it looking at you like "What's your problem? Can't you see it's getting low? Get with the program... add some food!" which of course we do immediately. Needless to say, she has us wrapped around her little claws... which brings us to another point. I have finally learned that her claws are VERY sharp and she knows how to use them! Of course it's usually my fault if I'm clawed. Now that I know it only hurts or bleeds for a minute or two I do tend to play more with her. Now, the next adventure is about to begin. Check back soon to hear all about Buddy... the new kid on the block (and possibly Callie's son) and how he has wormed his way into our hearts.. and soon... into our house.
